Berlin Schnell-Bahn and Untergrund-Bahn (S-Bahn U-Bahn)
S-Bahn U-Bahn in Berlin guide
The most popular local transport options in Berlin are the S-Bahn and U-Bahn. These two rail lines form the mainframe of the city’s transport system and run throughout the city centre.
S-Bahn or the Schnell-Bahn is the city’s fast rail and runs above ground in comparison to the U-Bahn or the Untergrund-Bahn which is the city’s underground train network. The S-Bahn functions on three routes and moves to connect the suburban areas of Berlin to the city centre.
In addition to the train lines that are used by both locals and tourists, there is also the option of using other local transport options like buses and trams. Berlin has an extensive bus network with several bus lines running throughout the region.
If you are interested also in the history of the train system and the S-Bhan then one museum you might love is the S-Bahn Museum (located at: Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 203, Potsdam). Website at: http://www.s-bahn-museum.de/
